Discover My Story
I am an educator, author, advocate, consultant and mother. I believe in the importance of relationships, communication and passion in all aspects of life.
-Educator-
I have been in education for almost 25years in the student support field. I have a degree in special education from Northern Illinois and two master’s degrees from Benedictine University for reading literacy and educational leadership. I also have a background in MTSS, including RTI and RTI2-B, and training in the topics of social emotional learning, trauma informed schools, and restorative practices.
-Author-
I wrote Square Peg to continue to shed light on the importance of social-emotional learning, focusing on anti-bullying, I also took my deep commitment to teaching reading comprehension and added that into the middle grade novel. In the back of the book there is reading comprehension information, questions for each chapter broken down by question type, reflection opportunities and discussion questions. Best of all, there is space for students to write so all their thoughts are in the book. I hope this book will be a successful tool for classrooms, as well as for parents at home supporting reading comprehension.
-Personal-
I am originally from Chicago, Illinois. I grew up and started my education career in the suburb of Elmwood Park. I am married and have two, amazing children. We moved to the Nashville. Tennessee area in 2014 where I continued in education. Currently, we reside in the Chattanooga,Tennessee. It is here that I began working in higher education and decided to follow my passion and published a middle-grade novel to support both reading comprehension growth and social-emotional topics, focusing on anti-bullying. My first book is Square Peg.
